The next day my lunch was in Palo Alto. I had Drunken Noodle vegetarian style and a cup of Thai Ice Tea, a take out from Siam Royal Authentic Thai that I enjoyed at my hotel room at
We were in Berkeley around lunch time the following day. From our past experience, finding a good food in Berkeley is quite a challenge so we drove to Rockridge neighborhood in Oakland and decided to try Nan Yang, a Burmese Restaurant. Both hubby and I have never had Burmese cuisine before, so why not try it while we're feeling adventurous. The restaurant decor and ambience is decent, open and light. Some would say it's minimalist. It's very different than other restaurant decor in its neighboring Southeast Asia restaurants we have been to.
Not knowing how big the portion was, we decided to share an order of salad, a cup of soup and an entree. We started off with the Ginger Salad, cured shredded ginger, toasted yellow split peas, fava beans, peanuts and coconut chips mixed with onions and cabbages. The garlic oil and lemon juice dressing was very light and fresh. The soup was unfortunately was so so. The garlic noodles and prawns dish was delicious and fresh.
